Apply for School Meals Online! Visit www.nyc.gov/accessnyc to apply for School Meals online. Families only need to submit one application online for all their children, even if their children attend different types of schools (public, private or charter).

Complete the application online in any of the seven languages on ACCESS NYC - English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Korean, Haitian Creole or Arabic.

The paper application is still available, and families who prefer that method, or would like to apply in a language not available on ACCESS NYC (for example Bengali, French, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Hindi, Polish or Urdu) can obtain the application from their child's school.

Parents with Psychiatric Disabilities Legal Advocacy Project (PPDLAP) The Urban Justice Center is pleased to announce a new initiative of the Mental Health Project (MHP).  MHP has launched its Parents with Psychiatric Disabilities Legal Advocacy Project (PPDLAP) funded by the Commission on Quality Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities.  The mission of PPDLAP is to provide free expert representation, information, and advice to parents with psychiatric disabilities in Family Court, primarily in abuse and neglect, and termination proceedings.  The project will serve New York City, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties.

In addition to direct legal representation in Family Court, PPDLAP will provide an array of technical assistance for all stakeholders, including publishing a Family Court Handbook for parents and non-lawyers, hosting professional trainings on representing parents with psychiatric disabilities in Family Court, establishing a website, and engaging in community outreach programs.

Intake is conducted every Monday through Friday starting at 9:00 a.m. During the intake session the applicants will be informed of all vocational courses available and asked to complete an application. After which the TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education) will be administered. This standardized entrance exam will help us gauge the applicant’s reading and math levels. A return appointment will be scheduled for the applicant to be interviewed by a team from our counseling staff.

Year Up is an intensive one-year training program for young adults ages 18 to 24 who provide Fortune 100 companies like Merrill Lynch, American Express, Lehman Brothers and Bank of America with Information Technology entry level talent. We recognize that both job skills and higher education are necessary to provide a  viable path to economic self-sufficiency.
 
Throughout the course of one year, our students earn up to 16 college credits from Pace University , learn technical and professional skills, and are placed in paid internships. Students are paid an educational stipend of $150 per week while in training and $250 per week while working at their internship.

Year Up is currently recruiting students for our next class of young professionals.
